In a significant development related to the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) scandal, authorities in Peshawar have identified an additional 134 suspected candidates.
The Educational Testing and Evaluation Agency (ETEA) officials have announced that these individuals will be summoned to appear before the UFM Committee, and their examination papers will be presented in court. It was discovered that among the 3,200 successful candidates, some had not performed the required numerical work, while 3,100 had completed the necessary rough work.
During the investigation, 219 candidates were apprehended while attempting to cheat using Bluetooth devices. Following the scandal, the caretaker government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) invalidated the MDCAT results and announced the re-administration of the examination.
Earlier in the month, more than 40 candidates, including 20 females, were arrested for solving exam papers with the aid of Bluetooth devices, leading to several related legal cases. According to Anila Durrani, the Secretary of Higher Education, there was an organized group involved in extorting substantial sums from students in exchange for helping them cheat on the test using Bluetooth technology.
