During New Year's Eve in Karachi, around 32 individuals, including women and children, sustained injuries due to celebratory gunfire across various areas.
The incidents occurred in Nazimabad, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Aziz Bhatti, Korangi Industrial Area, Zaman Town, Landhi, Shah Faisal Colony, Tariq Road, Sea View, Liaqutabad, Saudabad, Baldia, Karimabad, Clifton, Zaman, Tower, and other localities.
Among the injured were four women, three boys, and two girls. The Karachi police apprehended 59 individuals associated with aerial firing and confiscated firearms.
Karachi Police Chief Khadim Hussain Rind announced plans to include charges of attempted murder and terrorism against those engaged in aerial firing. Emphasizing the need for robust actions against such activities, Rind highlighted the importance of law enforcement's firm control.
He urged conducting search operations, making announcements in markets and mosques to discourage aerial firing, and utilizing social media to promote positive police measures and counter any adverse impact.
