An explosion on Peshawar's Warsak Road this Tuesday morning resulted in seven individuals sustaining injuries, including three school children, two of whom are in critical condition. The explosive device had been placed along the road near a private bank and a school, causing windows of nearby buildings to shatter.

Swift response from rescue teams and security personnel led to the injured being promptly transported to Lady Reading Hospital. Reports from the hospital indicate that a nine-year-old child is in a serious condition. The injured children are aged between seven and ten.

The individuals injured in the blast have been identified as Ahmed Zia, Ehsanullah, Javed Khan, Zahirullah, Saad Ahmed, Shakirullah, and Yusuf Khan. Fortunately, the bank staff remained unharmed.

Wardak SP Arshad Khan informed the media that the explosion occurred at 9:10 am and involved four kilograms of explosives. An investigation has been initiated to determine when the explosive was planted.

According to Bilal Ahmad Faizi, the spokesperson for emergency rescue services, the blast was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) on a busy road. As of now, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Mohammad Ashfaq Anwar, Peshawar's police chief, stated to Reuters that there's no indication suggesting the school children were the intended targets. Peshawar, situated on the border of Pakistan's tribal districts adjoining Taliban-controlled Afghanistan, is frequently targeted by various Islamist militant groups, including the Pakistani Taliban and Islamic State.

In 2014, the city suffered a tragic attack when six Taliban militants assaulted an army-run academy, resulting in the loss of 153 lives, mostly students.
