KARACHI: A Judicial Magistrate in Karachi has sent Kamran Qureshi, the father of Armaghan, on a two-day physical remand in connection with a case involving the possession of illicit weapons and drugs.

The investigation officer presented Qureshi before the Judicial Magistrate South, requesting his physical remand for further interrogation. The court approved the request and ordered that Qureshi be held on remand for two days.

Kamran Qureshi is facing multiple charges, including narcotics and arms smuggling. His arrest came after a raid at his residence in the Khayaban-e-Momin Gizri area of Karachi by the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC). According to DIG CIA Muqaddas Haider, Qureshi’s arrest was linked to a police encounter during the raid, and the authorities are now looking into his involvement in drug-related activities.

During the court proceedings, Qureshi’s lawyer, Khurram Abbas, claimed that AVCC officials had not allowed him to meet his client, despite court orders allowing such a meeting. Abbas further alleged that AVCC authorities attempted to move Qureshi without honoring the court’s directive for a legal meeting. The court has instructed authorities to allow the lawyer to meet his client, but tensions remained regarding the access to the accused.

Kamran Qureshi, who had previously been vocal about his son Armaghan’s case, also issued an apology to media personnel. In a video recorded during his detention by the AVCC, he expressed regret for any inappropriate comments made during the coverage of the Mustafa Amir kidnapping and murder case. Qureshi apologized, stating, “If, in the process, I inadvertently hurt any media personnel, forgive me for the sake of God.”

Qureshi also spoke about his efforts to seek justice for his son, Armaghan. He emphasized that, as a father, he had been doing everything in his power to help his son, while acknowledging the media’s role in uncovering the truth from their perspective.

Kamran Qureshi's legal issues continue to unfold, with the court proceedings expected to shed more light on his involvement in the alleged illegal activities.
