The PTI founder was apprehended by police on Tuesday in connection with the GHQ attack case. The anti-terrorism court, under Judge Malik Ijaz Asif, initiated hearings related to the May 9 incident.
All 12 case-specific Station House Officers (SHOs) attended the session, presenting relevant records. Despite being in Adiala Jail, the PTI founder participated in the hearing via video link.
The R.A Bazaar police officially informed the court about the founder's arrest and requested physical remand. However, the court directed the police to conduct investigative proceedings within the confines of the jail. Notably, a day prior, a special court judge, Abual Hasnaat, had ordered the PTI founder's release in the cipher case.
The release order indicated that unless implicated in any other case, the PTI founder should be released on bail, sanctioned by the Supreme Court. Presently, the former prime minister remains in judicial remand at Adiala Jail concerning the Toshakhana and 190 million pound cases.
Meanwhile, an anti-terrorism court, under Judge Arshad Javed, extended interim bail for the PTI chief’s sisters in the Jinnah House attack case. Aleema Khan, Uzma Khan, and Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s son, Zain Qureshi, received an extension until February 10.
