Pakistan's cricket sensation, Babar Azam, has surged back to claim the No. 1 position in the ICC ODI batsmen rankings, displacing Shubman Gill, who now sits in second place.

Gill's absence from the ongoing ODI series against South Africa paved the way for Babar to reclaim the top spot, amassing an impressive 824 rating points. In contrast, Gill trails closely behind at second place with 810 points.

In the realm of Test cricket, opener Usman Khawaja made significant strides, securing 808 rating points and advancing three positions to reach fourth place. This places him within striking distance of the top-ranked Kane Williamson, who boasts 864 rating points. Notably, David Warner climbed nine spots to 27th, while Mitchell Marsh ascended 12 places to tie for 68th, following their commendable performances against Pakistan.

However, Babar Azam's performance in the first Test against Australia saw a slight decline in his ranking, slipping from fourth to fifth position with 801 rating points. Despite his efforts in the Perth Test, where he scored 21 and 14 runs in the respective innings, Pakistan faced a daunting defeat, causing this minor dip in Babar's ranking.

On the other hand, Australian bowlers Pat Cummins, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood all surged within the top 10 rankings. India's Ravichandran Ashwin continues to maintain his dominance as the top Test bowler. Meanwhile, Shaheen Afridi experienced a setback, dropping seven places to 12th position in the Test bowlers’ rankings.
