Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari made an earnest appeal to the Election Commission (ECP) on Tuesday, urging them to promptly announce a date for upcoming elections within the nation.

During his engagement with the media on his visit, Bilawal Bhutto, the PPP leader, underscored the constitutional obligation of the ECP to declare the election date, emphasizing the necessity of a fair and equitable electoral environment.

The former Foreign Minister candidly acknowledged the lack of a level playing field in the country, articulating his reservations regarding this disparity. Bilawal Bhutto expressed his unwavering commitment to ensuring that elected representatives of the people find their place in Islamabad following the general elections.

He fervently advocated for a departure from the traditional methods of governance, citing the enduring repercussions that common citizens face due to decisions made in the capital.

While the PPP had been a constituent of the former ruling coalition, the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), Bilawal refrained from critiquing its shortcomings. Instead, he pinpointed inflation, unemployment, and poverty as the nation's most pressing challenges, attributing these issues to the country's ailing economy.

Bilawal Bhutto openly acknowledged the resurgence of terrorism, with the National Action Plan not being fully implemented. He underscored that the PPP had been the sole advocate of anti-terrorism efforts and raised concerns about the weaponry supplied by the US ending up in the hands of terrorists in Afghanistan, extending its reach to regions like Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh.

Blaming the PTI for the upsurge in terrorism, Bilawal Bhutto contended that the PTI chairman had relocated terrorists during the transitional phase in Afghanistan after the US troop withdrawal, thereby undoing the PPP's painstaking efforts in a matter of days.

Highlighting the achievements of the armed forces in countering terrorism, Bilawal Bhutto claimed that terrorism had been effectively eradicated in Sindh. However, he expressed bewilderment at the resurgence of this menace and called for a thorough investigation into the resurgence of terrorists.

Regarding Karachi, Bilawal lamented the disparity between the electricity supply and billing, as consumers endured lengthy power outages while receiving bills for round-the-clock service. He called for accountability and transparency in addressing these issues that affected the peace and well-being of the country's citizens.
