The federal cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Kakar, endorsed a Ramzan relief package for 2024 worth Rs7.49 billion during its meeting on Thursday, as the holy month approaches.
Decisions made during the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) meeting were also ratified during the cabinet session.
The ECC sanctioned Rs7,492.75 million for the Ramazan Relief Package 2024, allocated for subsidies to targeted beneficiaries under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), as outlined in the 2023-24 budget.
Additionally, the ECC approved a proposal from the Ministry of Commerce concerning the "Permission to Import Wheat and Export of Wheat Flour under Export Facilitation Scheme 2021".
Furthermore, the committee endorsed a summary from the Ministry of Commerce (Tariff Policy Wing) regarding "Individual Tariff Rationalization Proposals from Different Sectors for Review of Custom Duties", emphasizing the need for coordination in tariff rationalization with trade policy.
Lastly, the ECC approved a summary from the Power Division regarding the "Commissioning of 1263 MW CCPP Punjab Thermal Power (Pvt) Limited, Jhang (PPTL)".
