KARACHI: Caretaker Chief Minister, Justice (retired) Maqbool Baqir, has emphasized the need to take action against individuals responsible for degrading the urban environment. This statement was issued from the Chief Minister's House.
An operation was carried out in response to the caretaker Chief Minister's instructions targeting Afghan residents in District East. Garbage was cleared from various locations across the city, including Kashmir Road, Alam Iqbal Road, Khalid Bin Waleed Road, Sir Syed Road, Tariq Road, and Noor Ground in UC 8 (PACHS) of Jamshed Town in Afghan East District.
Reports indicated that Afghans had formed a team to transport materials from an illegal dumping site to the Safura workshop, resulting in littering and blockage of drainage systems in the area. In response, the caretaker Chief Minister instructed that FIRs be filed against those responsible for spreading garbage in the city.
Justice (retired) Maqbool Baqir stressed the importance of taking comprehensive action against individuals who contribute to the deterioration of the urban environment. The police seized the belongings of the Afghan team, closed their illegal garbage dumping site, and lodged an FIR against them at Firozabad Police Station. The operation against illegal garbage dumping was overseen by Imtiaz Shah, the Managing Director of the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board.
