The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered a transparent trial to be concluded within four weeks in the diplomat cypher case involving former Prime Minister Imran Khan, former Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, and others.
Chief Justice Aamer Farooq's written order instructs the Adiala Jail superintendent to ensure the dignity of the accused during this period. The court rejected Qureshi’s plea to halt indictment proceedings and clarified that the trial within the jail premises is open but committed to maintaining the respect and dignity of the accused.
The court emphasized security concerns for Imran Khan and urged maximum public participation with guaranteed security. The IHC had earlier suspended the in-prison trial of Imran and Qureshi in the case, summoning the complete record within two days.
