The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has updated the list of registered political parties in the country, now totaling 175.
Imran Khan's name was removed as the head of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), rendering the party leaderless in the list. Instead, Pervez Khattak-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Parliamentarians has been included.
Earlier, the ECP invalidated PTI's intra-party elections, resulting in the loss of their 'bat' electoral symbol. The five-member bench, led by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, nullified PTI's intra-party elections following hearings and arguments.
Consequently, Gohar Ali Khan, who had replaced Imran Khan as the newly elected PTI chairman, will no longer hold the position based on the ECP's ruling.
