Egypt's foreign ministry has announced its assistance in evacuating around 7,000 foreign nationals and dual nationals from the conflict-ridden Gaza Strip.
The opening of the Rafah border crossing on Wednesday allowed people to exit Gaza for the first time in weeks.
Assistant Foreign Minister Ismail Khairat stated that Egypt is making preparations to facilitate the reception and evacuation of foreign citizens from Gaza through the Rafah crossing. These individuals come from over 60 different nationalities. Specific details and a timeline were not provided in the ministry's statement. Approximately 400 people were expected to cross the border on Thursday.
