A judicial magistrate, on Sunday, granted the Anti-corruption Establishment (ACE) one-day physical remand of former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi in connection with the Lahore Master Plan irregularities case.

Stringent security measures were enforced within the district courts' premises as Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, who also serves as the President of PTI, was presented before the magistrate.

Representing Elahi, President of the Lahore Bar Association, Rana Intizar Hussain, appeared in court.

While the ACE sought physical remand for the former CM, Elahi's lawyer opposed it, urging the court to dismiss his client's involvement in the case.

The lawyer contended that the FIR should not have been filed prior to conducting an inquiry. Furthermore, he indicated their intention to file a contempt of court petition against the ACE DG tomorrow.

He emphasized that Elahi's arrest appeared to be motivated by malice since no inquiry had been conducted against the former chief minister, nor had any notice been served.

Following these arguments, the magistrate reserved judgment regarding the ACE's physical remand request and subsequently granted one-day physical remand to Elahi in the custody of the ACE.

The court instructed the ACE to produce Elahi before the relevant magistrate on the following Monday.
