Five police officials were killed, and 22 others were injured in an explosion near a police vehicle in Mamond Belot on Monday. Hospital sources are concerned that the casualty count might rise as two of the injured individuals are in critical condition.
Security forces have sealed off the area and initiated an operation to locate terrorists and their collaborators.
In response to the incident, Caretaker Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Justice (Retd) Syed Arshad Hussain Shah condemned the attack and expressed sorrow over the policemen's deaths. He urged for immediate medical assistance for the injured.
Additionally, People's Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari also expressed sorrow over the incident, acknowledging the officials' bravery in providing security to polio workers on duty.
