The Islamabad Accountability Court recently extended the physical remand of former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry, accused of financial irregularities in construction projects near Jhelum.
Presided over by Duty Judge Shahrukh Arjumand, the court session witnessed NAB's request for a 10-day extension in Chaudhry's physical remand.
Following arguments from both sides, the duty judge approved a two-day extension and transferred Chaudhry to NAB's custody. The court set January 12 as the next appearance date for the accused.
Earlier, on December 30, another accountability court in Islamabad had granted a six-day physical remand to Fawad Chaudhry in a case related to alleged irregularities in the dual carriageway project. Accountability court Judge Muhammad Bashir presided over that hearing where the NAB Prosecutor Irfan Bhola, Investigating Officer Sohail Arif, and Fawad’s counsel Faisal Fareed Chaudhry were present.
During this session, the NAB prosecutor highlighted the initial request for a 14-day remand but acknowledged the court's decision to grant 10 days. Eventually, the court approved a six-day remand and scheduled the next hearing for January 5.
