The spokesperson for the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) announced that a total of Rs3,484 billion in taxes had been collected in the initial five months of FY2023-24, with Rs736 billion collected in November 2023 alone.

This reflects a significant year-on-year growth of 38% and a month-on-month increase of 4%, despite the issuance of refunds that were 54% higher than the corresponding period in the previous year.

During the review conducted by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Pakistani officials under the SBA, the FBR's performance received commendation from the international lending organization.

In October, it was revealed that the Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) would commence auditing income tax returns for retailers and real estate tax filers.

The FBR cautioned retailers and real estate tax filers to be vigilant in their sales tax filings, emphasizing the revenue board's forthcoming audit of income tax and sales tax returns.
