Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced an extension in the deadline for submitting Sales Tax and Federal Excise Returns for the tax period of February 2025.
This decision, outlined in an official notification C.No. 9 (11) ST-LP&E/Misc/2016/43965-R issued today, provides taxpayers with additional time to fulfill their obligations.
Initially, the deadline for submission was March 18, 2025, which was later extended to March 27, 2025. Now, the FBR has further extended the deadline to April 13, 2025. This extension is granted under the authority of Section 74 of the Sales Tax Act, 1990, and Section 43 of the Federal Excise Act, 2005.
The extension is conditional, requiring taxpayers to deposit their due sales tax liability within the extended period. This measure aims to facilitate taxpayers while ensuring timely revenue collection for the government.
This extension is expected to provide relief to taxpayers facing difficulties in meeting the original deadlines, ensuring smoother compliance with tax regulations. The FBR urges all concerned taxpayers to take advantage of this extension and submit their returns by the new deadline to avoid any penalties.
