The Finance Act 2023 has increased the zero-rating limit on sales tax for preparations suitable for infants put up for retail sales from Rs. 500 to Rs. 600 per 200 grams. This is a relief measure for both businesses and end consumers.
The previous limit of Rs. 500 was set in 2017. The increase in the limit to Rs. 600 is in line with the rising cost of living. It will help businesses to reduce their costs and pass on the benefits to consumers. The increased limit will also make preparations for infants more affordable for families.
