At Tokyo's Haneda airport, a Japan Airlines plane caught fire on Tuesday, possibly due to a collision with a Coast Guard aircraft. The incident led to the evacuation of all 379 passengers and crew on board.
Live coverage on NHK, a public broadcaster, depicted the aircraft ablaze as it slid along the tarmac. Firefighting teams worked intensely to douse the flames.
The Coast Guard is examining the likelihood of its aircraft colliding with the passenger jet.
According to a Japan Airlines spokesperson, the plane had taken off from Shin-Chitose airport in Hokkaido.
