Pakistan's Foreign Secretary Syrus Qazi said on Wednesday that Pakistan is not surprised by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's revelation that the Indian government may have been involved in the killing of a Sikh leader.
Qazi made the remarks during a media briefing in New York, where he is accompanying caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar on a five-day visit to the US to attend the 78th UNGA session.
Qazi said that India's terrorism in Canada is not a matter of surprise for Pakistan. He pointed to the arrest of Kulbhushan Yadav, an Indian naval officer and Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) operative, from Balochistan in March 2016. Yadav was later sentenced to death after being found guilty of espionage and terror activities.
On Monday, Trudeau revealed that Canadian security agencies are investigating credible allegations of a link between Indian agents and the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Canadian citizen.
Reacting to Canada's revelations, Qazi said that what happened in Canada did not surprise Pakistan. He added that there must be some truth to the allegations leveled by the Canadian PM.
Qazi also said that India is committing state terrorism in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
He said that caretaker Prime Minister Kakar will discuss all issues, including Kashmir, in his address to the UN General Assembly.
