Former President Donald Trump, who is eyeing the 2024 presidential election as a Republican candidate, has been indicted for the fourth time. A Georgia grand jury has brought forward charges related to his alleged involvement in efforts to undermine the 2020 election results in the state.
The indictment asserts that Trump, alongside 18 others, engaged in an "illegal conspiracy" aimed at carrying out a criminal enterprise following his defeat in Georgia. According to CNN, the charges include false statements, attempts to influence state officials and legislatures, creation and dissemination of fabricated electoral college documents, intimidation of poll workers, solicitation of Justice Department officials, contacting then-Vice President Mike Pence, unauthorized interference with election machinery, and acts of obstruction.
The indictment emphasizes that this alleged conspiracy had a shared plan and objective, involving multiple instances of racketeering activity not only within Fulton County, Georgia but also across other parts of the state and even beyond its borders.
In addition to the individuals facing charges, the indictment identifies 30 other co-conspirators who have not been indicted themselves.
This recent indictment marks the fourth legal case against the former president. The previous indictment was linked to an investigation concerning his alleged role in inciting his supporters to storm Capitol Hill in an attempt to overturn the 2020 election results as he was on the verge of losing the presidency to Joe Biden.
