The interim government has implemented a substantial hike in petrol prices, raising it by Rs13.55 per litre, and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs2.15 per litre.
As outlined in a notification from the finance ministry, this increase sets the new price of petrol at Rs272.89 per litre effective from February 01.
Earlier this month, petrol prices were reduced by Rs8 per litre, maintaining the diesel price at Rs273.21 per litre for the following two weeks. The finance ministry's notification on January 16 indicated a revised petrol price of Rs259.34 per litre after the Rs8 reduction, while the diesel rate remained at Rs276.21 per litre. Notably, no adjustments were specified for the prices of light-diesel oil and kerosene oil.
