ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's Foreign Office has reiterated the country's steadfast position on the Palestine issue, emphasizing its unwavering support for the Palestinian people's struggle for self-determination.
Pakistan continues to advocate for the establishment of a sovereign, independent, and contiguous Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al Sharif as its capital.
Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan, during his weekly news briefing in Islamabad on Thursday, condemned proposals to displace Palestinians from Gaza, describing such actions as deeply troubling and unjust. He emphasized that Gaza and all Palestinian lands belong to the Palestinian people.
Khan also reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute, in line with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and the UN Security Council resolutions. He stated that resolving the Kashmir issue is key to unlocking South Asia's full potential.
In response to recent provocative statements from Indian leadership, Khan reiterated that Pakistan maintains a robust defense capability to protect its territorial integrity and sovereignty.
Additionally, Khan urged Afghan authorities to act on their commitments to combat terrorist organizations operating within Afghanistan. He called for concrete actions to address security concerns linked to cross-border terrorism.
The spokesperson also announced that Rafael Mariano Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), will visit Pakistan next week at the invitation of the government. During his visit, Grossi will meet with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar. He will also engage in seminars at the Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority and the National University of Sciences and Technology. Furthermore, Grossi is scheduled to visit the Chashma nuclear power generating stations.
