The government of Pakistan has declared a public holiday on November 9th to commemorate the 146th birth anniversary of the national poet, Allama Muhammad Iqbal. This announcement was made, and an official notification was issued by the cabinet division.

Allama Iqbal, born in Sialkot on November 9, 1877, earned worldwide recognition as the "Poet of the East." He was a renowned poet, philosopher, and thinker of the 20th century, with international acclaim. Allama Iqbal played a pivotal role in inspiring millions of Muslims in the Indian subcontinent to strive for an independent homeland.

It's worth noting that the public holiday on Iqbal Day had been suspended in 2015 but was reinstated the previous year. On this day, special prayers for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan will be offered in mosques. Additionally, a change of guards ceremony is scheduled to take place at Allama Iqbal's mausoleum in Lahore.
