Govt dedicated to empowering youth with modern skills: PM Shehbaz

LAHORE: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed the government’s commitment to equipping youth with modern skills while chairing a review meeting in Lahore on Sunday. The session focused on providing ICT training to 300,000 youth in collaboration with Huawei Technologies.

Delegates from Huawei Technologies participated, discussing various measures to enhance digital skills and deliver world-class IT training. The meeting reviewed progress on agreements signed with Huawei in China last year.

PM Shehbaz emphasized the youth's role in technology advancement and the digital revolution. He highlighted the importance of initiatives like artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and cloud computing training for Pakistan’s future.

Huawei representatives reaffirmed their commitment to launching advanced training programs. Under this initiative, 300,000 Pakistani youth will receive online training, with the ICT training portal officially inaugurated by the Prime Minister.

It was noted that 20,315 students have already been trained under this program. The PM directed the expansion of this initiative to all provinces, including Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, ensuring nationwide access to digital education.

This partnership aims to bridge the digital skills gap, fostering economic growth and enhancing Pakistan’s IT sector.
