The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) issued a notification on Friday, announcing a surge in liquefied natural gas (LNG) prices.

The increase stands at 10.11 percent, leading to a rise of $1.32 per Metric Million British Thermal Unit (MMBtu) for Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) consumers and $1.42 per MMBtu for Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC) consumers.

Post the adjustment, the set price for liquefied gas is now $14.81 for SNGPL users and $15.45 for SSGC customers.

Earlier today, alongside the electricity tariff hike, gas prices also underwent an increase authorized by the authorities.

Specifically, Sui Northern Gas Company (SNGC) included fixed charges in November bills after obtaining approval from the caretaker government.

Officials detailed that protected consumers, using 0.9 hectometers of gas, will bear Rs400 as fixed monthly charges, while non-protected users consuming up to 1.5 hectometers will face an additional Rs1,000 in their bills.

Furthermore, consumers with zero gas usage will still be liable to pay Rs400 in monthly fixed charges, as stipulated by SNGC. This levy is expected to impact approximately 8 million consumers.
