The interim government announced on Thursday a rise in petrol prices by Rs4.13 per litre for the upcoming two weeks. However, diesel prices will remain unchanged during this period. Following the adjustment, petrol prices will climb from Rs 275.62 to Rs 279.75 per litre, while diesel prices will stay at Rs 287.33 per litre.
This marks the third consecutive increase in petroleum prices by the caretaker government. The anticipated hike was driven by rising global oil prices amid a rebound in demand. The caretaker government's tenure is nearing its end, with the newly elected prime minister expected to assume office by the week's end, signaling the conclusion of the country's longest-serving interim administration.
