The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has given the green light to two out of three Requests for Proposals (RFPs) submitted by K-Electric (KE) for the inclusion of renewable energy in its power generation infrastructure.
In a statement issued today, these approvals mark a significant milestone in KE's strategic initiative to integrate renewable energy sources into its operations, thereby advancing towards a cleaner and more sustainable energy future.
The approved RFPs entail the installation of solar projects within KE's jurisdiction, aligning closely with the utility's commitment to diversify its energy mix with renewable resources.
Moonis Alvi, CEO of K-Electric, underscored the significance of these approvals, stating, "As we aim to achieve a target of incorporating at least 30% renewables into our energy portfolio by 2030, the NEPRA's approval of these RFPs is pivotal to our ambitious agenda."
He further emphasized, "The imminent commencement of the installation process marks a tangible step forward in KE's endeavor towards a greener energy ecosystem."
"With regulatory approvals secured, KE is ready to swiftly proceed with the implementation phase, prioritizing the integration of renewable energy solutions into its infrastructure," Alvi added.
