The Islamabad High Court (IHC) will announce its ruling on Monday on Imran Khan's petition against the hearing of the cypher case inside jail premises. The court will also hear Khan's post-arrest bail application and another petition seeking exemption from the cypher case proceedings.
The cypher case pertains to a document that Khan, then the prime minister, waved at a public rally in March last year, claiming it was evidence of a foreign conspiracy behind the no-confidence motion he faced at that time. The motion was carried a few weeks later and Khan's government ended.
The IHC last week combined Khan's other petitions, seeking dismissal of the case and stopping his trial by the Special Court, established under the Official Secrets Act (OSA). On Saturday, Khan filed another plea in the IHC seeking exemption under Article 248 of the Constitution.
Meanwhile, the Special Court will also hold a hearing of the case in the Adiala Jail on Tuesday. On the previous hearing, the court had ordered that Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi be indicted in the cypher case on October 17.
