On Monday, an International Cricket Council (ICC) delegation arrived in Pakistan to assess preparations for the upcoming Champions Trophy, slated for February 2025. The delegation, comprising ICC Event Operations team members Sarah Edgar and Aoun Zaidi, touched down in Karachi to inspect the National Stadium and receive briefings on tournament arrangements from stadium management. Meetings with law enforcement representatives are also expected.
Additionally, visits to Lahore and Rawalpindi stadiums are planned, with ICC Head of Events Chris Tetley set to join the delegation during their Rawalpindi leg. Last December, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) finalized hosting rights for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy in Dubai, signing the agreement with ICC General Counsel Jonathan Hall.
The PCB has communicated security requirements to the government, ensuring adequate measures for visiting teams. Former Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar pledged security cooperation for the event during a recent meeting with ex-PCB Management Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf.
In November 2021, the ICC unveiled a series of international cricket tournaments spanning 2024–2031, including the 2025 and 2029 Champions Trophy editions. The 2025 tournament will feature an eight-team format, consisting of two groups of four, followed by semi-finals and a final.
