In the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023 at MA Chidambaram Stadium, India's collective bowling performance, spearheaded by Ravindra Jadeja's 3-28, resulted in Australia being dismissed for a mere 199 runs in their opening match.

Opting to bat first, Australia faced an early setback when Mitchell Marsh departed with only five runs on the scoreboard.

David Warner and Steve Smith then provided stability with a 69-run partnership before Kuldeep Yadav made a crucial catch to send Warner back to the pavilion. Warner's 47 runs came off 52 balls with six boundaries, making him the fastest player to reach 1000 World Cup runs in just 19 innings.

Steve Smith followed suit after anchoring the innings with his 46 from 71 deliveries, featuring five boundaries, before Ravindra Jadeja knocked over his off-stump with Australia at 110 runs.

Indian spinners took control from there, causing the Australian batting lineup to stumble to 140-7 by the 37th over.

Mitchell Starc displayed some resistance with two brief partnerships of 25 and 24 runs alongside Pat Cummins and Adam Zampa, respectively.

Indian pacers then returned to the attack, claiming the final three wickets to wrap up the Australian innings at 199.

Starc played a determined innings, scoring 28 runs from 35 balls with two boundaries and a six.

Ravindra Jadeja led the bowling department with the mentioned figures, while Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah secured two wickets each.
