India's anti-Pakistan narrative disrupts bilateral relations: FO

ISLAMABAD: On Monday, Pakistan’s Foreign Office (FO) condemned the anti-Pakistan narrative coming from India, stating it has a detrimental effect on the bilateral environment and obstructs the chances for peace and cooperation.

FO spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan rejected the "misleading and one-sided" comments made by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his podcast with US podcaster Lex Fridman. In the podcast, Modi claimed that every attempt at fostering peace with Pakistan was met with hostility and betrayal, and expressed hope that "wisdom would prevail" in Islamabad to improve relations.

The FO spokesperson refuted these allegations, pointing out that Modi's remarks ignored the long-standing Jammu and Kashmir dispute, which has remained unresolved for over seventy years despite India’s commitments to the United Nations, Pakistan, and the Kashmiri people. He further criticized India's narrative of victimhood, stating it fails to address India’s role in supporting terrorism on Pakistani soil and its ongoing oppression in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK). Instead of placing blame on others, India should reflect on its own actions, including targeted assassinations and terrorist activities in foreign territories, he added.

Pakistan, the spokesperson affirmed, has always advocated for constructive engagement and dialogue to resolve outstanding issues, particularly the Kashmir dispute. However, peace and stability in South Asia remain elusive due to India's inflexible approach and hegemonic ambitions. Additionally, the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, recently labeled India as the primary sponsor of terrorism in Balochistan, particularly referencing the recent attack on the Jaffar Express. The attack, he noted, was part of a continuing strategy supported by India. The DG ISPR also criticized Indian media for spreading fake propaganda using AI-generated videos to distort the facts surrounding the attack.
