Former Sindh governor and dissident Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) figure Muhammad Zubair suggested that Ishaq Dar, currently serving as the foreign minister, is likely to reclaim the "finance ministry." Zubair made these remarks during an appearance on the show in a private news channel.
Ishaq Dar, who has served as finance minister four times before, was appointed as Pakistan's foreign minister for the first time by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who recently secured his second term as PM.
Sharif appointed Muhammad Aurangzeb, the CEO of Pakistan's largest bank, to oversee the finance ministry in the interim.
Zubair noted that Dar has been included in committees relevant to finance matters, indicating that the PML-N is signaling his involvement in economic decision-making.
He further suggested that Dar might be reinstated as finance minister, given his inclusion in the Council of Common Interests (CCI), while the finance minister was notably excluded.
According to a notification from the CCI Secretariat, dated March 25, President Asif Ali Zardari formed the council on the advice of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, effective from March 21. The newly constituted council includes the prime minister, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Minister of States and Frontier Regions Amir Muqam, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, and Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti.
