The Patron In-chief of the Istekham-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), Jahangir Tareen, received nomination papers on Tuesday to contest the upcoming 2024 general elections. These papers are for one National Assembly seat and two seats in the Punjab Assembly.
Tareen's legal team obtained the nomination papers on his behalf. He intends to contest elections from NA-155-Lodhran-II, PP-227 Lodhran-IV, and PP-228 Lodhran-V. Additionally, Ali Tareen, representing Jahangir Tareen, has also acquired nomination papers for the same constituencies.
There's a plan for Jahangir Tareen to submit his nomination papers to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) around December 21 or 22.
Earlier reports indicated an agreement between the PML-N and Jahangir Tareen-led IPP regarding seat adjustments in Lahore, Lodhran, and Sahiwal. PML-N is set to support IPP senior leaders Aleem Khan and Nauman Langrial for NA seats in Lahore and Sahiwal, respectively. The PML-N won't field its candidates against IPP nominees Awn Chaudhry and Ishaq Khaqwani.
