Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leader Siraj ul Haq has announced plans to protest against high electricity bills, calling for sit-in demonstrations at governor houses in all four provinces of Pakistan. The party is considering a wheel-jam strike, potentially in collaboration with traders and transporters, if the government fails to reduce electricity costs. #JI

JI has criticized the government for passing on the expense of expensive electricity purchases to the public and pledged to challenge agreements with Independent Power Producers (IPPs) in the Supreme Court. They argue that electricity in neighboring countries is cheaper, and the rising bills are causing difficulties for the public. JI has also claimed that the government intends to increase electricity prices to 90 rupees per unit, which would further burden citizens already struggling to pay their bills. #EnergyCosts

The party expressed gratitude to traders and the public for their support during a recent successful strike, emphasizing that it sends a clear message that the people won't accept the agreements made by previous governments.
