The Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) party in Karachi, Pakistan has announced that they will be holding citywide protests on Tuesday against the rising prices of petroleum products and inflation. JI Karachi chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman called the current caretaker administration "a continuation of the legacy of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) government".

Rehman said that the protest will be "a different kind of activity" and appealed to Karachiites to join the "struggle of the JI" for the accountability of the past and present rulers. He also said that youngsters in Karachi will go to 15 designated points on Tuesday evening and block the vehicular traffic by turning off their vehicles.

Rehman said that the caretaker government is actually a continuation of the previous coalition government, and that the JI is protesting to demand a reduction in the prices of petroleum products.
