Islamabad's Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has ordered the placement of former Punjab chief minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, in Adiala jail on a 14-day judicial remand.
This decision came after the completion of his two-day physical remand in connection with the judicial complex attack case. During the hearing, the police had requested a further 10-day physical remand, but the ATC judge, Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain, rejected the request.
Pervaiz Elahi was arrested shortly after his release from NAB custody on September 1, following an earlier arrest restriction by the Lahore High Court. The case against him, registered at CTD police station on September 3, alleges his involvement in sending rioters to vandalize the Judicial Complex and providing them with vehicles and batons. Notably, Elahi has faced multiple arrests and detentions since the May 9 riots.
