KARACHI: The Meteorological Office has warned of rising temperatures in Karachi, with mercury expected to reach 36-38°C next week. Hot and dry winds from the northwest will dominate most of the day, while sea breezes are expected to resume in the evening.
The weather in Karachi is likely to remain hot from today, with temperatures increasing by two to three degrees Celsius in the coming days. Although the heat will intensify, it will not be as extreme as the summer months of May and June.
This hot weather spell is expected to continue until March 11, after which temperatures may drop slightly from March 12. The weather department has also confirmed that no rainfall is expected in Karachi during this period.
Earlier this week, Karachi and other parts of Sindh experienced an unexpected drop in temperatures due to intensified cold and dry northeastern winds. On Wednesday morning, the minimum temperature in the city was recorded at 13.1°C, significantly lower than the average March temperature of 19.4°C.
Despite this brief cooling period, the upcoming rise in temperatures indicates a shift towards hotter conditions as summer approaches. Citizens are advised to take necessary precautions to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun.
