Karachi braces for strong intermittent winds, warns PMD

KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted clear weather in Karachi on Monday, with strong intermittent winds affecting the city.

Meanwhile, several regions across the country experienced significant rainfall and snowfall. Punjab saw moderate to heavy rain in cities like Multan, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Lahore.

In Balochistan, various districts, including Qila Abdullah, Pishin, Saranan, Gulistan, Huramzai, Muslim Bagh, Sinjawi, Duki, Harnai, Loralai, Mekhtar, and Khanozai, received substantial rainfall.

Severe weather conditions were reported near the borders with Afghanistan and Iran, where hailstorms affected multiple areas. Additionally, snowfall was recorded in Ziarat, Toba Achakzai, and Toba Kakri.

The PMD has advised residents to take precautions against strong winds in Karachi and urged travelers in affected regions to exercise caution due to slippery roads and reduced visibility.

The recent weather activity is attributed to a strong westerly wave impacting various parts of Pakistan, bringing much-needed precipitation to drought-prone areas.
