KARACHI: In a bid to address security concerns, the Commissioner of Karachi has announced a temporary ban on drone flights within the city limits, as reported by a private news channel on Monday. According to the issued notification, citizens are prohibited from operating drones in Karachi for the next seven days, amidst stringent security measures.

Additionally, Commissioner Karachi has declared April 23 as a public holiday in the metropolis. A notification from the office of the Karachi Commissioner states that all public and private offices, as well as schools, will remain closed across the city on this day.

The public holiday has been attributed to the arrival of foreign dignitaries. Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has embarked on a three-day official visit to Pakistan. Raisi, accompanied by his spouse and a high-level delegation including cabinet members and senior officials, arrived at the Islamabad airport.

Upon arrival, Raisi was welcomed by Housing Minister Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran, Mudassir Tipu, as confirmed by the Foreign Office (FO). Subsequently, the Iranian president proceeded to the Prime Minister’s House, where he was greeted by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and accorded a guard of honor.
