KARACHI: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi inaugurated a new passport office at the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) Mega Centre in Nazimabad, Karachi, on Thursday. The newly opened office will operate 24/7 with three shifts, providing citizens with the convenience of applying for passports at any time of day or night.
During the inauguration, Minister Naqvi inspected the passport counters and interacted with the staff. He also met with citizens visiting the NADRA Mega Centre for passport and ID card services, gathering feedback on their experiences. Addressing the challenges faced by women, he discussed issues related to biometric verification under the Benazir Income Support Program.
Additionally, Minister Naqvi received a detailed briefing on the operations of the passport office at the NADRA centre. This new facility is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to improve citizen services and make passport application processes more accessible.
In related news, the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports has expanded the “Fast Track” facility, which was initially available in only a few cities, to 26 additional cities across Pakistan. This initiative aims to ensure timely passport issuance to citizens. Previously, the Fast Track service was available in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Multan, Peshawar, Karachi, and Quetta. The service is now extended to 47 cities, including Attock, Chakwal, Sargodha, Hafizabad, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Kohat, Swabi, Swat, DI Khan, Bannu, Hangu, Abbottabad, and Haripur.
The expanded Fast Track service reflects the government's commitment to improving passport services and ensuring quicker processing times for citizens across the country.
