The Pakistan government and K-Electric finalized agreements on Friday to resolve longstanding disputes, as per a statement from the Power Division.

These agreements, including tariff differential subsidy, power purchasing, and mediation, aim to enhance power supply and tackle existing issues. The mediation agreement particularly focuses on clearing dues between K-Electric and the government.

Muhammad Ali, the Caretaker Minister for Energy, hailed these agreements as a significant step for Karachi's residents, praising the collaboration between the government and the city's primary power provider.

Acknowledging the challenges in the power sector, the minister highlighted the government's dedicated efforts to streamline operations.

Earlier on July 20, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) provisionally extended K-Electric's license for six months. KE had sought a 20-year renewal, citing its service to 3.4 million consumers and asserting that the renewal served the interests of consumers and the power industry.
