Lahore: Khadija Shah, a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist and daughter of former finance minister Dr. Salman Shah, has filed a petition in the Lahore High Court (LHC) challenging the decision of an anti-terrorism court (ATC) to grant her physical remand.
Barrister Sameer Khosa, representing Khadija Shah, argued that the police have repeatedly obtained physical remand for her in the May 9 case. The petition claims that the trial court dismissed her bail request despite the addition of new legal clauses to the case and that the physical remand was granted unlawfully, especially in the absence of any recovery.
Khadija Shah is urging the LHC to declare the ATC's decision unlawful and to suspend the trial court's ruling while the matter is under consideration.
The arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan at the Islamabad High Court on May 9 led to violent clashes across Pakistan and protests by PTI party workers in various cities. During these protests, there were attacks on army installations and the Corps Commander's residence in Lahore by PTI workers.
