KARACHI: Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, the Convener of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), announced that a meeting between his party's delegation and Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is on the horizon.
The discussion included topics such as the country's political landscape, upcoming general elections, and potential electoral alliances. The MQM-P convener emphasized that PML-N has been their last political ally.
This telephone conversation marks the first contact between the two political parties since Nawaz Sharif's return to Pakistan from his self-imposed exile in London, where he had been since 2019. Upon landing in Lahore, Nawaz Sharif, accompanied by PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif and former finance minister Ishaq Dar, made his way to Lahore's historic Minar-e-Pakistan monument for a grand rally to welcome him.
