LAHORE: Police declared 22 PTI leaders as proclaimed offenders (POs) as police said they did not appear for questioning despite summons in connection with May 9 violence incidents including Jinnah House attack case.

Those declared POs included Mian Aslam Iqbal, Murad Saeed, Andleeb Abbas, Ahmad Niazi, Farrukh Habib, Zubair Niazi, Ali Amin Gandapur and Hammad Azhar.

Thousands of people took to streets in different parts of country on May 9 to vent their anger at arrest of former Prime Minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan. They ransacked military and government buildings to register their protest, according to police report.

In some instances, even memorials of martyrs of Pakistan Army were either demolished or damaged. It may be noted that police had approached court for issuance of proclamation proceedings against PTI leaders. Police had stated that leaders had hidden themselves to avoid arrest. Sarwar Road Police had registered case against PTI leaders and workers for attacking Jinnah House in Lahore Cantt, looting valuables and setting it on fire during May 9 riots.
