A nationwide campaign to combat polio has commenced today, aiming to provide polio vaccination and supplementary vitamin A doses to more than forty million children across the country.

The caretaker Health Minister, Dr. Nadeem Jan, emphasized the importance of parental cooperation with polio teams to ensure that their children receive the polio drops. He stressed that the responsibility for eradicating polio from the country lies with every citizen and noted that polio cases have significantly reduced, remaining only in a few areas.

The health minister also highlighted the global certification requirement, which mandates that no polio cases should emerge for three consecutive years. He called upon educated individuals to raise awareness among the general public about this debilitating disease.

Last week, the caretaker Federal Health Minister, Dr. Nadeem Jan, expressed the ministry's commitment to utilizing all available resources to permanently eradicate polio from Pakistan by the end of 2023. He reaffirmed that achieving a "Polio-free Pakistan" is a national goal and that the caretaker government is dedicated to this mission, expecting positive outcomes from their efforts.
