In response to the caretaker government's appeal, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) granted approval on Friday for a tariff increase, aiming to maintain a consistent electricity tariff nationwide.
As per the issued notice, NEPRA sanctioned a raise of Rs1.72 per unit for K-Electric (KE) consumers, attributed to the third-quarter adjustments from the previous fiscal year.
The notification specified an increase of Rs 1.25 per unit for the January-March 2023 period, along with Rs 0.47 per unit for the October-December 2022 period.
NEPRA, the national power regulatory body, has officially communicated the electricity tariff hike to the federal government. Consequently, consumers in Karachi will bear additional charges in their bills from January to March 2024.
