According to a recent report from the National Institute of Health (NIH), a severe respiratory illness attributed to the H3N2 Influenza-A virus is affecting numerous individuals across Pakistan.

The virus is reported to cause significant respiratory issues, with thousands of cases being recorded weekly.

Health experts emphasize the potential danger posed by this Influenza virus, particularly to the elderly and individuals with weakened immune systems. Notably, the NIH report distinguishes this respiratory illness as stemming from the H3N2 Influenza-A virus and not from COVID-19, as the rate of coronavirus cases in Pakistan remains below one percent.

Additionally, the NIH report highlights the presence of the Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), causing illness among children throughout the nation.

To prevent the spread of the illness, health experts caution against the unnecessary use of antibiotics for influenza symptoms. They recommend wearing masks and frequent hand washing as preventive measures against the disease.
