Karachi: On October 10 (tomorrow), Pakistan will commemorate the second anniversary of the late nuclear scientist, Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan. Political and social organizations across the nation are organizing condolence events where special prayers will be offered for his forgiveness.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the country and the nation, Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan will be honored. Born on April 1, 1936, in Bhopal, India, he pursued higher education at prestigious institutions worldwide.
Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan played a pivotal role in bolstering Pakistan's global standing, leading the nation to become the first nuclear power in the Muslim world and the seventh worldwide, even under challenging circumstances. Pakistan conducted a successful nuclear test on May 28, 1998, during the previous administration of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
In acknowledgment of his invaluable services, Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan received multiple accolades, including the Nishan Pakistan award, among others.
Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan passed away on October 10, 2021.
