LAHORE: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has imposed a ban on the sale and purchase of substandard LPG cylinders across Pakistan.
In a notification issued by OGRA, the authority labeled the refilling of substandard LPG cylinders as dangerous. Notices were sent to 313 LPG marketing companies and 19 cylinder-producing companies.
OGRA has warned LPG marketing companies against selling LPG to unauthorized distributors. According to the notification, new standard operating procedures (SOPs) have been established, allowing only authorized distributors to sell and purchase LPG.
The notification further explained that this decision was made in response to the increasing incidents of cylinder explosions, as the authority aims to protect lives and businesses.
On May 3, LPG prices in Quetta were reduced by Rs 20 per kilogram. Sources reported that the price of LPG dropped from Rs 280 to Rs 260 per kilogram. It is worth noting that LPG prices had previously been reduced by Rs 20 per kilogram, resulting in a total reduction of Rs 40 per kilogram over the past few weeks.
